IRiSS/SSRC Symposium, April 30
You are invited to a public symposium sponsored by the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences at Stanford (IRiSS) and the Social Sciences Resource Center (SSRC) of Stanford University Libraries:
Censuses and Surveys, Still Useful for the Common Good?

Questions from the audience and a reception will follow.
Three speakers will bring their distinctive perspectives on some of the political controversies and methodological complexities associated with these institutionalized sources for social science research and the formation of public policy:
- Henry Brady, Professor of Political Science and Public Policy and Director, Survey Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley
- Kenneth Prewitt, Professor of Public Affairs at Columbia University and former Director of the U.S. Census Bureau
- Douglas Rivers, Professor of Political Science at Stanford University, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and founder of the Web-based survey research company, Polimetrix
