Other Outages & Known Issues

Due to a scheduled power outage, users will be unable to access AIAA online publications on Saturday, 11 February 2012, from 5:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Web of Science (WoS) plans to support version 9 of IE by the end of this year.

Until then, you can turn on an IE feature called "compatibility view" by going to the Tools menu bar and selecting Capability View (so there's a check box next to it).  See more details below.

The other thing that you can do is go to the Web of Science web site (URL is below), then go to Tools menu bar and choose Capability View Settings.  It will show the root URL of the page for WoS in the box at top of this daughter window.  Press "add" button to include this resource in compatibility view.

WoS URL:
http://ezproxy.stanford.edu:2048/login?url=http://webofknowledge.com/?DestApp=WOS

More details about Compability View:

"When you turn on Compatibility View, the website you're viewing will be displayed as if you were using an earlier version of Internet Explorer.

If Internet Explorer recognizes a webpage that isn't compatible, you'll see the Compatibility View button on the Address bar. To turn Compatibility View on, click the Compatibility View button to make the icon change from an outline Picture of the Compatibility View button (off) to a solid color Picture of the Compatibility View button (on).

From now on, whenever you visit this website, it will be displayed in Compatibility View. However, if the website receives updates to display correctly in the current version of Internet Explorer, Compatibility View will automatically turn off. "

e-Journals Site: Due to regular maintenance, SULAIR's Electronic Journals and Newspapers site may be unavailable for a very brief time on Tuesday mornings.

ebrary: ebrary will be performing monthly system maintenance on the first Tuesday of each month, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. During this period, the ebrary service may be unavailable.

ScienceDirect: ScienceDirect® is fully compatible with the following browsers running on Microsoft® Windows operating systems:

  • Mozilla® Firefox® 2.0 or newer
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or newer
  • Netscape® Navigator version 7.0 or newer

ScienceDirect is only fully tested on these browsers running on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Therefore, we can only guarantee full functionality to customers running these browsers on a Microsoft Windows operating system.

Other browsers and operating systems may also be able to access full ScienceDirect functionality; however, ScienceDirect E-Helpdesk cannot provide expert advice or technical support to solve problems you may encounter when using these systems.

Notes: Some databases have restrictions on the number of simultaneous users allowed. If a database is unavailable, please try again later. If you are experiencing difficulty connecting to a resource that is not listed on this page, please fill out our Connections Problem form, so we can address the problem.

Browser Issues

Web Accelerators: You may not be able to access Stanford-restricted resources if you are using a Web accelerator (such as Google Web Accelerator). Turn off accelerator software before connecting to these sites. You can check that remote sites recognize your Stanford address.

Pop-Up Blockers: Some sites require that you turn off pop-up blocking software to use all their features.
