Server
This World Wide Web server contains information about
scientists and the funding of science. The Community of Science is
a global registry of scientists designed to provide accurate,
thorough, timely, and easy-to-access information about who is
working on what subject, and where.

- Directorate of
Time
The Directorate of Time is part of the U.S. Naval
Observatory, which is the official source of time used in the United
States. This web site contains a variety of information related to
timekeeping.

conferences) of the European Science Foundation.

- IAGA Global Paleomagnetic Database
The Global Paleomagnetic Database is updated and maintained
by the
International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA). The
Global Paleomagnetic Database contains all published paleomagnetic data
to the end of 1997.
- Japan
Information Center of Science and Technology
JICST is the central organization of information activities
in the fields of science and technology in Japan. It collects,
processes and disseminates scientific and technical information as
well as constructs and provides databases.

A collection of Internet resources related to science and
technology in Japan.
- Kansas Geological Survey Publications
The Kansas Geological Survey continues to study the state's resources and prepare publications on its findings. Providing research and service to Kansas since 1889, the Survey publishes information on Kansas geology in
books and maps, both technical and educational. The topics of these publications include computer science, engineering geology, geochemistry, geohydrology, paleontology, mineral economics, and stratigraphy.

RECONselect
RECONselect contains bibliographic citations for Scientific
and Technical Aerospace Reports (STAR file series) produced since
NASA was established in 1958, journal articles and conference
proceedings produced since 1958 (Open Literature file series), and,
in the near future, citations from the National Advisory Committee
on Aeronautics (NACA) collection, NASA's predecessor organization.
The citations represent a selected portion of the publicly available
information available through the NASA RECON system. RECONselect is
part of the NASA Technical Report Server (NTRS).

The NASA Scientific and Technical Information program provides
ready access to over 3 million aerospace and related citations.
Powerful search capabilities offer access to both the latest and most
important historical information about aerospace, aeronautics and
related topics. This service is run by the NASA Center for AeroSpace
Information (CASI).

Technical Report Server (NTRS)
The NASA Technical Report Server is an experimental service
that allows users to search the many different abstract and
technical report servers maintained by various NASA centers and
programs. Specifically, it is a unified interface to many separate
WAIS servers. NTRS is both a superset of the of the various
servers, and a canonical listing of the servers.

Science Foundation MetaCenter's Computational Science Highlights
This multimedia collection contains descriptions of some of
the 10,000 scientific research projects that have used the resources
of National Science Foundation supercomputing centers. The reports
range from astronomy to zoology, and include scientific
breakthroughs on black holes, how the heart works, pollution
control, and modelling the oceans. All reports have images, and
many also are accompanied by animations and sound.

Fundamental Physical Constants
This document gives the values of the basic constants and
conversion factors of physics and chemistry resulting from the 1986
least-squares adjustment of the fundamental physical constants as
published by the CODATA Task Group on Fundamental Constants and as
recommended for international use by CODATA. Published in the
Journal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards, vol. 92,
1987.

- Petrological Database of the Ocean Floor
This is a NSF (National Science Foundation) founded research project, carried by LDEO (Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory) of Columbia University in the City of New York, sponsored by RIDGE (Ridge Inter-Disciplinary Global Experiments). This database contains petrological and chemical data, plus bibliographical references for samples taken from the ocean floor.

- SciSearch
SciSearch is a multidisciplinary index to the literature of science, technology, and biomedicine that is prepared by the Institute for Scientific Information. Stanford has access to SciSearch data covering 1985 to the present via the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
Updated weekly, SciSearch contains access to all records published in Science Citation Index (3,300 journals) and additional records from the Current Contents Series of publications (1,900 journals) that are not included in the print version of Science Citation Index. SciSearch records from January 1991 to present include abstracts. Cited reference and current awareness (alert service) searching are also available. Access limited to Stanford faculty and students only.

This web site is primarily the catalog of SciTech, which
markets, distributes, and publishes scientific and technical
software.
- SIR-CX-SAR Space
Radar Images of Earth
The photo archive includes images of archaelogical sites, cities, ecology and agriculture, oceans, rivers,
glaciers, volcanoes, and other geological features. Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C/X-Band Synthetic
Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) is a joint U.S.-German-Italian project that uses a highly sophisticated
imaging radar to capture images of Earth. The instrument was flown on two flights in 1994. One was
on space shuttle Endeavour on mission STS-59 April 9-20, 1994. The second flight was on shuttle
Endeavour on STS-68 September 30-October 11, 1994. Space radar scientists at the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory in Pasadena, California, and elsewhere continue to process and analyze images yielded by
the shuttle flights. The images are divided into nine categories for easier viewing.

Of American Manufacturers
Provides access to the Thomas Register Supplier Finder,
which allows user to search on a product or service and retrieve
information on the companies that offer that product or service
(free but require registration). Also offers mini-tutorials on
what to look for when purchasing a variety of high-tech products.

Provides access (by name and subject) to the home pages of

than 800 scholarly societies worldwide. Provided by the University of

Guide to Doctoral Dissertations in Science and Technology
Written by prominent librarians representing 23 countries.
Contains brief description of what constitutes a doctoral
dissertation, guides and methods of bibliographic control for
dissertations, and methods for accessing dissertations not covered
by standard bibliographic tools. Provider: International
Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.
