The Archive of Recorded Sound is located in the basement of Braun
Music Center on the Stanford University campus, near the Bookstore
and the Post Office.
It is open to the public
Monday - Friday, 1- 5 pm
or weekdays by appointment.
Researchers planning extended work in the Archive should give the
staff advance notice whenever possible.
All materials may be used only in the Archive.
E-mail reference is available through soundarchive@stanford.edu.
The Archive is accessible to users with limited mobility by means
of the elevator in the adjoining Music Library.

From Highway 101 North & South:
Take the Embarcadero Road exit west toward Stanford. At El Camino
Real, Embarcadero turns into Galvez Road as it enters the University.
Stay in the left lane and continue toward the center of campus.
At the first stop sign, make a left onto Campus Drive East and
continue
until you reach Mayfield Avenue, and make a right. After the next
stop sign, take the first right into a large parking area adjacent
to Braun Music Center, Dinkelspiel Auditorium and Tressider Memorial
Union.
From Highway 280 North:
Exit Sand Hill Road east toward Stanford. Continue east, turning
right at the traffic light on Santa Cruz Avenue. Make an immediate
left onto Junipero Serra Boulevard. Turn left at the second stoplight,
Campus Drive East. Make a left at the first stop sign, onto Mayfield
Drive. After the next stop sign, take the first right into a large
parking area adjacent to Braun Music Center, Dinkelspiel Auditorium
and Tressider Memorial Union.
From Highway 280 South:
Exit Page Mill Road toward Stanford. Continue east, turning left
at the traffic light on Junipero Serra Blvd. Turn right at Stanford
Avenue and continue to Bowdoin St. Turn left on to Campus Drive
East and make a right-hand turn on to Mayfield Dr. After the next
stop sign, take the first right into a large parking area adjacent
to the Braun Music Center, Dinkelspiel Auditorium and Tressider
Memorial Union.
From El Camino Real:
Exit El Camino Real at University Avenue. Turn toward the hills
(away from the center of Palo Alto). As you enter Stanford, University
Avenue becomes Palm Drive. Go through one traffic light, and turn
left onto Campus Drive East at the first stop sign. Continue on
Campus Drive East until you reach Mayfield Avenue, and make a right.
After the next stop sign, take the first right into a large parking
area adjacent to Braun Music Center, Dinkelspiel Auditorium and
Tressider Memorial Union.
The Tressider lot has coin-metered spaces (at $1.50/hour) and "pay
and display" spaces. A self-serve machine in the Tresidder
lot issues one-day visitor permits for $12.00, good for up to

hours. Display the receipt on your dashboard, and park in either
the "pay and display" or metered spaces. The permit
dispenser accepts credit cards, cash or coins. It does not issue
change. Please
note that parking is monitored Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

Stanford & Palo Alto are served by Caltrain
(Palo Alto and California Avenue stops) and the VTA
bus. More public transit information may be found on the Parking
& Transportation Services page.
A free campus shuttle service, the Marguerite,
links up with Caltrain and local bus services. The stop closest
to Braun Music Center is at Tressider Memorial Union, on Line
B.
