Four volumes (in seven) have been published so far, covering 1800-1805, 1806-1810, 1811-1815, and 1816-1820, respectively. Each indexes individual paintings from the British art auction catalogs of the period and lists them under artist. Artists' names are presented alphabetically, with anonymous artists grouped at the end of the listing. Date of auction, auction house, title of the work, seller, and buyer are typically given along with transcriptions of significant annotations from various copies of the catalog, which the project collates. Volumes also contain: bibliography of art auction catalogs examined, index of buyers and sellers, index of previous owners mentioned in the catalogs' entries or annotations.
