About the East Asia Library
The East Asia Library (EAL), Stanford's primary Asian-language
collection, holds over 530,000 volumes in the social sciences
and humanities for all historical periods. Borrowing privileges
are limited to faculty, students, and researchers affiliated with
Stanford, the Hoover Institution, and the University of California.
Most registered visiting scholars are also granted borrowing privileges,
as are all Stanford and Hoover staff members. Short-term visitors,
although not given stacks access or borrowing privileges, may
use the EAL free of charge seven days per year upon self-service
registration at Green Library with valid identification.
