Overview
Branner Library contains about 125,000 volumes, including 2000 serial
titles. Its collections include current and retrospective materials in the following subjects:
climatology, earth systems, environmental science, economic geology, geochemistry, geophysics, hydrogeology, marine geology, petroleum engineering, petroleum geology, seismology and soils.
and formats:
data, electronic journals, full-text files, encyclopedias and reference works, monographs, multimedia, technical reports, and theses.
The collection also includes retrospective collections in invertebrate
paleontology, exploration, and mining. The library is a depository for
the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and
the California Geological
Survey.
The 270,000 sheet map collection
is located on the mezzanine of the library. The collection includes maps
on a wide range of social science and humanities topics; there is a strong
collection of geological, seismological, hydrological, natural hazards,
and natural resources maps. The collection also includes a complete set
of the topographic quadrangles of the USGS, as well as topographic maps
from around the world.
