Using the Map Collections
Online Maps
Online Maps in SearchWorksMany online maps and remote-sensing images can be found in SearchWorks. In SearchWorks you can do select the electronic resources tab and do a search. For example:
Subject: Russia Maps
In the the Combined Search mode enter everything and subject, for example Yosemite Aerial Photographs or Russia Maps. Then click on LONG for the long display of the catalog record and then click on the URL.

- Alabama Maps
Includes historic maps of Alabama, the Southeastern
United States, U.S. and the Americas, and special topics.

Earthquake Fault Zones Maps of California
Produced by the California Division of Mines and
Geology, 3 CD-ROMS have been digitized and are now online. The
site includes index and topographic maps from affected areas.

Atlas Project
Population maps of selected major U.S. urban areas,
e.g., San Francisco
- California Coastal
Records Project
Recent aerial photographs of the entire California
coast.
- Coast
Survey Historical Map & Chart Project
Nautical charts from the late 1800s to the 1990s
are available for viewing and downloading.
- Early
Washington Maps: A Digital Collection
Maps range from 1818 to the 1950's. The images
can be feerly downloaded.
- Electronic Map Library
From California State University, Northridge Dept.
of Geography. Contains digital atlases by William A. Bowen covering
