Accessibility

Accessible to patrons with limited mobility. An elevator is available to take patrons to the library entrance on the second floor. A power-equipped, accessible entrance is located on the south side of the building. Inquire at the circulation desk to access the library mezzanine via the elevator.

About us

We house resources to support the departments in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability with topics covering Earth and planetary sciences, geophysics, energy, climate, and geology. The library also houses the main map library and the Stanford Geospatial Center, which provides GIS support services for the entire campus. The library is a depository for the United States Geological Survey.

  • Stanford Geological Survey Collection

    The Stanford Geological Survey (SGS) existed for one hundred years from 1895 to 1995. During this time students and faculty went into the field to survey and map parts of California, Nevada, and Utah. The SGS collection includes maps, field notebooks, and field reports.

  • Antarctic Radar Film Digitization Project

    A collaborative effort by Stanford University and the Scott Polar Research Institute at Cambridge University to convert analog ice sheet observations for digital analysis. This project digitized nearly one thousand rolls of optical film gathered in the late 1960s and 1970s as part of an Antarctic airborne geophysical survey.

  • Conrad Collection on Dutch Waterways

    The Conrad Collection on Dutch Waterways is the personal collection of Jan Frederick Willem Conrad, a nineteenth century Dutch engineer and former chief inspector of Rijkswaterstaat. Included in this collection are cartographic and technical materials that document the construction of the Dutch waterway and coastal infrastructure from the seventeenth to the twentieth century.
