The David C. Weber Librarian's Research Fund
The David C. Weber Librarian's Research Fund provides grants to support research in librarianship and related fields, including both scholarly writing in bibliography, the history of the book, etc. and professional writing on management, automation, etc. leading to publication. The objective of the Fund is to encourage and recognize staff potential for original and innovative work. Examples of research projects which have been supported by the Weber Fund include:
- Bibliography of the Stanford Alpine Club and Members -- John Rawlings, Bibliographer
- Research toward an illustrated dictionary of Victorian things -- Sharon Propas, Acquisitions
- Research on modernization of the field of Hebrew bibliography and paleography in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries -- Roger Kohn, Reinhard Family Curator of Judaica and Hebraica Collections
- Geoscience Reference Sources, 2nd Ed. -- Charlotte Derksen, Branner Library
- The Silicon Valley: A Guide for Historians of Science and Technology -- Henry E. Lowood, Physics Librarian
- A Bibliography of Chicano Short Fiction, 1913 - 1986 -- Roberto Trujillo, Curator of Mexican Collections
The grant may be used to cover expenses involved in conducting research including clerical support, software, travel and subsistence, computer time, etc. Research and publication should be accomplished within a reasonable period of time. Recipients of grants will be expected to prepare a summary report at the end of the project.

| Application Procedure |
Proposals for Weber Research funding should include:
- Statement of the research objective in line with objective of the Fund
- Brief description of the research method and scope of work
- Basic project budget
- Time line for completion
Proposals should be brief, up to two pages.
