1. Heffner Memorial Reading Room Closes This Summer

The Heffner Memorial Applied Physics Reading Room will be closing this summer by request of the Applied Physics Department. The reading room collection is completely duplicated by holdings in other Stanford libraries. Physics Library staff are currently identifying and will begin contacting units with duplicate holdings to offer the Heffner copies as replacements for any missing or worn pieces.

2. University Librarian's Office Welcomes New Staff Member

The University Librarian's office is pleased to welcome it's newest staff member, Janice Cooper. Janice began in her position as Receptionist/Financial Assistant on June 20th. New to Stanford, Janice comes to SUL/AIR from the hi-tech/engineering fields where she gained a rich background as an Executive Assistant. Janice's duties include serving as Receptionist for the University Librarian's office, as well as assisting both the Stanford Professional Publishing Course and the Institute for 21st Century Librarianship program with processing of their financial paperwork (Snap Checks, BORs, budget reports, contracts, etc.). We anticipate a busy summer for Janice as she begins her learning process while the SPPC and Institute courses ramp up to full speed! If you're in the area, please be sure to stop by to introduce yourselves and help us welcome Janice to her new job!
