3. Kathy Long Hired as Jackson Library Director
Kathy Long has been selected to fill the Jackson Library Director
position at the Graduate School of Business. Kathy will begin work
at the GSB on March 1st. She replaces Shirley Hallblade, who relocated
to Southern California in January to accept a Library Director appointment
at Occidental College.
Kathy recently worked as the Research Director for Viant Corporation
in San Francisco, where she had responsibility for corporate level
services as she created the strategy for a new library and information
program within a rapidly growing organization. Prior to that appointment,
she was the Manager of the Information Team from 1986 to 2000 for
Strategic Decisions Group/Navigant Consulting in Menlo Park. While
at SDG, Kathy managed both the library staff and a group of business
analysts.
Prior to working at SDG, Kathy was the Manager of Information Services
for the Corporate Library at Hewlett Packard Company in Palo Alto
from 1984 to 1986. She was the Library Manager at the Honeywell
Electro-Optics Division in Lexington, MA, from 1980-1984, and an
Information Specialist in the Research Library at Arthur D. Little,
Inc. in Cambridge, MA, from 1974 to 1980. Kathy also has a BA degree
in History from the University of Massachusetts and a MS degree
in Library and Information Science from Simmons College in Boston,
MA.
We've very pleased to have Kathy as a new member of the Stanford
community. Her office will be located in Jackson Library and her
phone number will be 5-2002.
