1. Results of the Book Sale
The Annual SLSA/ASUL book sale was a great success. We sold 275 of the 350
boxes of books that had accumulated. I would like to thank everyone for
their donations. But, In particular, I would like to thank all the many
volunteers without whom the book sale could not have taken place. Special
thanks go to Naheed Zaheer who was in charge of the sale, David Bratman who
sorted the books, Sally Treadway for advertising and last, but by no means
least, Rikke Greenwald who baked the cookies for the Volunteers. The Moon
Bean Cafe supplied each of the volunteers with a refreshment coupon, which
turned out to be particularly welcome because of the sweltering heat on the
day of the sale. I hope everyone who volunteered will consider doing so
again next year. In addition to the fun of selling, the books this year
were more interesting than usual. So, in case you did not go, think about
going next year. The bargain prices and the unusual material made this an
event I would not have missed for anything. We made somewhere in the
neighborhood of $4000.-, not counting the expenses. This money will be
spent on a picnic which is already planned for July.
