2. GIS & Spatial Analysis in the Social Sciences
As part of the Scholars' Workshop series, a presentation will be held by staff
and students of the SSRC and Branner Library on geographic information systems
and spatial data analysis in the Social Sciences. Statistical methods, when
combined with a GIS, can help one visualize and analyze spatial data in
research and instruction.
The workshop will include a brief introduction to GIS and the resources
available at Stanford, a presentation on mapping and geocoding data, and
presentations on descriptive and explanatory spatial data analysis.
