1. $5 Million in 2001: A Successful Year for SUL/AIR
Fundraising
Despite the downturn of the economy, SUL/AIR succeeded in attracting $5,146,189 in external support in the academic year that ended 31 August. This amount represents a tangible mark of the respect that SUL/AIR enjoys as well as an endorsement of our various initiatives and efforts. Just over half of the total, $2,587,243, came in the form of grants, primarily from foundations, but also including just over $1 Million in federal funds. A total of $712,271 came from corporate donors, including both cash and in-kind donations. Last, but certainly not least, almost $1.8 Million came as gifts from individuals, with the balance comprising gifts from associations, bequests, and foundations. We are grateful indeed to the more than 1800 people and organizations responsible for these gifts and grants, as well as to the entire SUL/AIR staff who, whether directly or indirectly, make SUL/AIR attractive to - and worthy of - outside support.
