ABI Inform Global (1971-present)

Content: Covers business research topics. Search nearly 1800 worldwide business periodicals. Fast access to information on 60,000 + companies with business and executive profiles. Now includes The Wall Street Journal.

Subject Coverage: business and economic conditions, management techniques, theory, and practice of business, advertising, marketing, economics, human resources, finance, taxation, computers, and more.

Business Source Premier (dates of coverage vary by publication)

Content: It provides more than 3,000 full text scholarly publications. In addition to the full text, this database provides indexing and abstracts for nearly 3,800 U.S. and international professional publications, academic journals, and trade magazines.

Engineering Index (1884-present)

Content: Also known as EI/Compendex, this indexes and abstracts approximately 4,500 journals, conferences, and technical reports annually.

Subject Coverage: All fields of engineering including industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations research, decision sciences.

Compendex® is the most comprehensive interdisciplinary engineering database in the world. Compendex contains over 9 million records and references over 5,000 international engineering sources including journal, conference, and trade publications. Coverage is from 1969 to present and the database is updated weekly. Combined with the Engineering Index Backfile, the database includes over 9.7 million records and spans back to 1884.

INSPEC (1898-present)

Content: INSPEC indexes and abstracts articles from over 4,000 scholarly journals and conferences.

Subject Coverage: The world's scientific and technical literature in physics, electronics, and computing/control, and information science.

Print Equivalent: Earlier coverage is available in the printed Physics Abstracts (in the Physics Library), Electrical and Electronics Abstracts (in the Engineering Library), and Computer and Control Abstracts (in both the Engineering and Math/CS Libraries).

MathSciNet (1940-present)

Content: Provides access to over 59 years of Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications. MathSciNet, Mathematical Reviews, and Current Mathematical Publications are all produced by the American Mathematical Society. More details are available at the AMS website.

Subject Coverage:  Mathematics, operations research.

Print Equivalent: Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications are also both available in print in the Math/CS Library.

SciSearch (1900-present)

Content:  Citations published in Science Citation Index (3,300 journals) and additional records from Current Contents (1,900 journals).   Abstracts beginning with January 1991.  SCI provides a unique approach to searching the literature by allowing the user to take an older article and identify who has cited that article since it was published.

Subject Coverage: Indexes authors who have been cited in current literature across 100 scientific disciplines.

Print Equivalent: Print versions of Science Citation Index (1961-present) are available at both the Physics and Biology Libraries.

  • EconPapers
    Listings of numerous working paper series. The BibEc covers mostly finance and economics working papers. 

  • Columbia University Business School Research Archive
    Search Columbia School of Business publications. For many recent titles, abstracts are present and papers are available for free downloading. Topics focus on money, economics, and finance. 

  • Federal Reserve Board: Working Papers
    Federal Reserve Board working papers generally cover subjects such as monetary policy, credit, and banking regulations; and a variety of empirical research on government debt, bond prices and activity, and economic forecasting models. 

  • Harvard Business School Working Papers
    HBS working papers cover business, management, and finance. 

  • Harvard Institute of Economic Research (HIER) 
    These working papers reflect current research activities of Harvard University economics professors. Papers can be browsed by date or author and many are available for free downloading. 

  • Institutional Working Papers
    This is a compilation of working paper sites at various institutions.

  • International Monetary Fund Working Papers
    IMF working papers cover currency issues, international monetary and fiscal policy, debt reduction and relief, and focus on Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe. 

  • MIT Center for Coordination Science: Working Paper Series
    Focus on information technology and better technology systems for studying how people work together and how they might do so differently with new kinds of information technology. 

  • National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)
    NBER has more than 6,500 working papers, and it focuses on empirical research such as the development of new statistical measures, effects of public policy on US economy, and estimating quantitative models of economic behavior. 

  • OECD Economics Working Papers 
    OECD's working papers cover wide range of topics essential for understanding today's world economy such as agriculture, energy, environment, trade and labor markets. 

  • Sloan School of Management Working Papers Index (2001- )
    The Sloan School's working papers provide broad subject coverage such as business, finance, management, and industrial relations. 

  • Social Science Research Network 
    Social Science Research Network (SSRN) is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of five specialized research networks in the areas of: accounting, economics, financial economics, legal scholarship and management. 

  • Stanford Graduate School of Business Faculty Research Papers and Cases
    The research paper database contains abstracts of research papers written by Stanford Business School faculty from 1990 to the present. Full text electronic copies (PDF format) of selected papers are available online. The cases database contains abstracts and ordering information for case studies published by the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

  • University of Chicago Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP)
    CRSP is devoted to tracking, measuring, and analyzing securities data. This site provides a select list of recent papers and reprints from the CRSP Working Paper Series, some of which are available for free downloading. 


  • University of Michigan Business School
    Browse faculty research papers by number or title, or search by keyword. Most are available for free downloading.

  • Wharton Financial Institutions Center Working Papers 
    Wharton's working paper series focuses on a wide range of topics including management, marketing and economics.

    Browse a list of Yale's School of Management research papers available in the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) Electronic Paper Collection. Many are available for free downloading.
