ArcInfo Installation Instructions

*ArcInfo93.zip is 1.32GB, so it is recommended to download it over the Stanford network.

Installation of Desktop ArcInfo
1. Remove any previous versions of ArcInfo Desktop. Delete the contents of the 'C:\arcgis' folder.

2. Make sure you meet all system requirements for Desktop.

3. Unzip ArcInfo93.zip, and extract the files to a new directory.

4. Doubleclick the 'Setup.exe' application.

5. On the first screen click 'Next'. Read and accept the license agreement and click 'Next' again.

Note: If the setup program prompts, update Microsoft system files and allow the setup program to reboot your system. Remember to login using the same username and password as before. If the installer doesn't start up automatically, run "Setup.exe" again.

6. Select 'Browse for License Manager on the network' and hit 'Next'.

7. Enter 'geospatial.stanford.edu' and hit 'Next'.

8. Choose to install ArcInfo and hit "Next".

9. Choose either:

  • "Complete" installation type - Installs all extensions and programming capabilities.
  • "Custom" installation type - Chooses which applications and extensions to install. (Note: It isn't possible to install extensions later, and the "Typical" installation doesn't include extensions.)

10. Accept the default installation directory by clicking 'Next'.

11. Click 'Next' again to begin the installation.

12. If you have the CDs from Branner Library, you may now install any additional components (ArcGIS Tutorial Data, Desktop Developer Kit, and Crystal Reports) by checking their respective boxes, clicking 'OK', and following the prompts.

13. Reboot your computer now to complete the installation.
