Pro/Filer Census Data
Data Description
| Data Location | Estimates
and Projections
Wessex Pro/Filer contains, on 6 CDs,
all the data published in Summary Tape Files 1A, 3A, and 3B of
the US Census Bureau's 85 CD set. Pro/Filer contains all the answers
to the "short form" of the 1990 census -- detailed information
on race, ethnicity, sex, age and household type, composition and
value. It also contains all of the answers to the enormously detailed
"long form" on topics from Income to School & Work, Race and
Households. For example, there are over 81 variables of educational
level and employment status, over 500 variables of household income
by race, 70 different categories of family income by family types
and presence of children.
This Dataset is site-licensed
to Stanford and its data loading program is available for use
on the GIS computers in Branner Library. Patrons may select Wessex
census data on these computers and transfer it to computers elsewhere
on campus.
| Estimates
and Projections |
The Estimates & Projections software
and data package from Wessex allows users to create custom tables
of demographic estimates (1997) and projections (2002, 2007) for
geographic areas of interest. More than 250 variables are available
(180 estimated or projected for each time horizon) and data can
be summarized by a variety of geographic units, including block
group, census tract, Zip Code, and county. Data coverage is nationwide.
