The Humanities and Area Studies Resource Center is open to the
public through Green Library's South, West and North entrances.
Collections
The Lane Reading Room houses the following collections:
- The HASRC Collection (This is the general reference collection
for the Humanities and Area Studies Resource Center.)
- The Atlas Collection (HAS-ATLAS)
- The California History Collection (HAS-CA)
- Digital Culture and Humanities Computing (HAS-DIGIT) (Book
and CD-ROM collections)

- The Journal Collection (HAS-JOURN)
- The New Books Collection (HAS-NEWBK)
- The Oversize Book Collection (HAS-FOLIO)
- The Ready Reference Collection (HAS-RR)
- The Recent Fiction Collection (HAS-FIC)
- The Stanford History Collection (HAS-SU)

Circulation Policies
Lane Reading Room materials that circulate can be checked out at Green
Library Loan Desk. The automated system requires presentation of a
current, valid borrower's card for all circulation transactions. Green
Library's circulation policies apply.

Loan Periods
There are two collections in the Lane Reading Room that circulate:
The New Books Collection (HAS-NEWBK).
(These books circulate for a patron's usual Loan Period.)
The Recent Fiction Collection (HAS-FIC).
(These books circulate for a 28-day Loan Period).
The other collections in the room do not circulate.
Visitors
Individuals who wish to use materials in the Humanities and Area
Studies Resource Room but who are not affiliated with Stanford University
or an institution with which it has formal cooperative arrangements
may receive an entry pass to Green Library by registering at any
entrance to the library. For further information, please see the
