Social Science Data & Software (SSDS)
Social Science Data and Software (SSDS) is co-located in, and
is an integral part of, the Center. The SSDS group provides services
and support to Stanford faculty, staff and students in finding
and getting social science data, and in selecting and using quantitative
(statistical) software (SPSS, SAS, Stata), and qualitative software
(NVivo, ATLAS.ti, SPSS Text Analysis for Surveys). SSDS staff
members
deliver these services in a variety of ways that include consulting,
workshops and help documentation.. In-person consulting is available
during walk-in hours or by appointment in The Velma Denning Room,
located in the Center. Group workshops take place during fall,
winter,
and spring quarters and cover SSDS resources and services in general,
ways to locate and get data sets, planning during the early stages
of research projects, and quantitative and qualitative software
options available at Stanford for research and instruction. Visit
the SSDS workshops
page for details and to register. . Help documentation for using
popular quantitative and qualitative software is available in
The
Velma Denning Room and via the SSDS
Web site.
