Public Kiosks

Networked public computers in the Center provide access to Stanford's online catalog, Socrates and internet resources through the Stanford University Libraries and Academic Information Resources (SUL/AIR) Web site.   Printing from the public computers is available for Stanford and non-Stanford users.  Print jobs can be collected from printers in Room 105B, located next to the SSRC Reception Desk.

Jonsson Library Bibliographic and Full-Text Databases on CD-ROM

Four dedicated computers located near the SSRC Reception desk provide access to U.S. government and California state bibliographic and full-text titles on CD-ROM .  Users with questions regarding the content of a title from this collection can ask at the Green Library Information Center. SSRC Reception Desk staff can assist users with access to these resources during the following days and times:  Monday – Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

Users with questions about how to use the quantitative software (SPSS, SAS, Stata) or qualitative software, NVivo, can be contact the Social Science Data and Software (SSDS) software consultants via the SSDS Web site or come by during open consulting hours.

Social Science Data and Software (SSDS) Computer Workstations

Stanford faculty, staff and students can test and evaluate popular quantitative (statistical) and qualitative software including specialized software for advanced statistical methods from computers in The Velma Denning Room. In addition to software, users have access to a rich collection of data on CD-ROM that covers a broad range of social science topics and time periods from U.S. federal government agencies, international organizations, other nations and commercial providers. Printing is not available from computers in The Velma Denning Room. However, users can download and save files to portable media (USB drives, CD-ROM), personal AFS space, or create a personal folder in "My Documents" space (refer to instructions on computer desktops). Users with questions about SSDS resources and services can contact the Social Science Data and Software (SSDS) group or come by The Velma Denning Room Monday - Thursday (fall, winter and spring quarters) during open consulting hours.
