The Velma Denning Room
The Velma Denning Room provides a focused environment for the data
and software services offered by Social
Science Data and Software (SSDS).
SSDS provides access to an extensive collection of datasets from
consortia, foreign governments, international organizations and
U.S. agencies and offices on CD-ROM and diskette. Users can view,
download, or transfer numeric data on CD-ROM and diskette from computer
workstations. Clients visiting The Velma Denning Room can evaluate
statistical and qualitative software and specialized packages such
as AMOS and UCINET and Geographic Information System (GIS) software,
computer-based training tools, and data management/transfer tools.
Users can consult a reference library of software manuals, journals,
magazines, textbooks on statistics and econometrics, codebooks and
CD-ROM dataset guides. In addition, ‘Getting Started’
guides and documents for learning SPSS, SAS, Stata and NVivo are
available.
