Collections
Green Library houses a nearly 3-million-volume research collection in
the social sciences and humanities, including area studies, interdisciplinary
fields and government documents. Its collections includes approximately
6,500 current periodicals and journal titles
and some 350 current newspapers. A 20,500 volume reference collection
supports the work of the Information Center Desk.
Humanities and Area Studies Research Center
The Humanities and Area Studies Research
Center (HASRC) contains a reference collection of approximately 13,000
volumes. Although the HASRC collections are available during all building
hours, advanced reference assistance
is available by appointment only.
The Media Microtext Center
The Media Microtext
Center houses the Libraries' media collection as well as the major
microform collection of the University Libraries. For information on access
to Green and other Stanford libraries, contact the Privileges Desk in
Green Library, (650) 723-1492.
Social Sciences Research Center
The Jonsson Social Sciences
Reading Room houses a reference collection of approximately 10,000
volumes useful for advanced inquiry into and reflection upon social, economic,
and political phenomena of interest to Stanford faculty and students,
including access to U.S., foreign, and international government documents.
Although the SSRC collections are available during all building hours,
advanced reference assistance is available by appointment only.
Special Collections
Reference services are also available in Special
Collections for the collections housed there, including the Stanford
Archives which chronicle the history of Stanford.
