Clusters - Information Center
IC iMac Cluster: In the IC,
there are 30 dual-boot, iMacs (Windows and MacOS) available for patron
use. To reach this cluster on the first (1st) floor of Green East,
proceed pass the Information Desk. You'll find iMac machines to the left and right of the green statue (or ask for directions at the Information Desk.)
SUNet ID is required to use these computers.
View current software loaded on machines
in the iMac cluster.
Note: All machines
have CD-RW/DVD drives and USB ports to plug in flash
(thumb) drives.
Scan Stations: Green Library--Information Center now has
seven (7) Scan Stations for our patrons to use. Of those seven (7) scanners, two (2) are public and five (5) are for those with a valid SUNet ID. Three of the five Stanford-only scan stations have Abbyy Finereader installed for those needing a good optical character recognition (OCR) application.
Note: The Abbyy Finereader only works in Windows. Be sure to boot into Windows if you need to use this application.
The stations are located
in the iMac cluster. Click here for a map of scanners in Green.
There is one large format scanner able to scan up to 11x17 sized docs.
The scan station can only be accessed by those with
a valid SUNet ID. Software available for patrons to use is as follows:
- Abbyy Fine Reader --> (Windows OS only) OCR scanning and
format converting software.
- Epson Scan --> Can be used instead of Abbyy but doesn't
have as good an OCR feature as does Abbyy.
- Image Capture (MacOS Only)
- Additional software loaded on the scan stations can be found here--coming soon!
Scanning documentation can be found next to the scan station. You can also find "How to" scan documentation here.
