• ANRT — Atelier national de reproduction des theses. Database of 37000 thesis available on microfiche.
Artamène - the hyperlinked text of a work by Madame de Scudéry.

• ARTFL (restricted to Stanford use)
— Encyclopédie, and FRANTEXT database, with approximately 2000 French texts from the 17th-20th centuries.
— French women writers, with texts from the 16th-19th centuries.
— Pamphlets and periodicals of the Revolution of 1848.
ARTFL also provides access to the OVI (Opera del vocabolario italiano) project.

• Athena — University of Geneva’s site. E-texts of classic French works and French authors sites.
Bibliothèque électronique de Lisieux. This is an excellent site of french texts, especially from 19th Century.

• BPI-Presse : Database of articles in the French press about current social and cultural issues. 1997 - present, with selected citations from 1978. From the Bibliotheque publique d'information in the Centre Pompidou.

• César. French theater, 17th-18th c. Details of more than 120,000 performances of 25,000 plays and other theatrical entertainments, with notices on nearly 2,000 writers and over 800 theatre spaces.
• Ciné-ressources - le catalogue collectif des bibliothèques et archives du cinéma. Union catalogue for the major repositories of film and film studies in France, including the Cinematheque francaise, Cinematheque de Toulouse, Institut Jean-Vigo, Archives audio-visuelles de Monaco, and le Conservatoire regional de l'image.
• Collections. French image database "Collections" sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture. "Collections" is a search engine of a large number of French material culture databases. Use keywords to search.
• Critical editions of French texts - The University of Liverpool Online series.
• Cultures, Langues, Textes - Revue des Sommaires. Indexes 145 journals in the humanities and social sciences held by CNRS-Villejuif.
• Descartes - Oeuvres complètes de René Descartes, part of Intelex Past Masters Collection.
• Ecole des Chartes (databases of the school’s library sales catalogs, theses, prints, online publications).
• Encyclopedia of Diderot and d’Alembert: Collaborative Translation Website. Thanks to the generous collaboration of the ARTFL project, every translation is linked to the French original.
• Gallica. The BNF’s site of e-texts.
• Illuminated manuscripts in public libraries in France including municipal and university libraries and the BNF. This brings together three databases: Enluminures, Mandragore, and Liber Floridus.
• Itinéraire Culturel du Livre. History of the book and of graphics techniques, an “entrée” into the collections of over 150 museums of the book in Europe.

• Article@INIST. This database allows you to search for documents (Journal articles, Journal issues, Books, Reports or Conferences, doctoral dissertations) in the catalog at the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique.
• Arts and Humanities Citation Index
  Dating back to 1975, this index is based on citations from a wide variety of journals covering French and Italian studies, including a large number published outside of the United States. It fully indexes over a thousand journals in the humanities and selectively indexes close to 7,000 other journals in related fields. Available through Web of Science, restricted to Stanford use.
• FRANCIS. Produced by the INIST (Institut de l’Information Scientifique et Technique), it is available through the Web (through Stanford’s Eureka connection, restricted to Stanford).
• Iter: Gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
• Maison des Sciences de l'Homme. This database contains citations for articles, monographs, proceedings/book chapters, dissertations. Many are European, but not all. Coverage goes back to the early 1990s.
• Medica@. This site contains several hundred digitalized medical works, including several editions of the Hippocratic corpus, early editions of Galen, 19th-century medical theses by famous doctors, and a smaller number of classic monographs and treatises, mostly dating from the 19th century.
