Yahoo Deutschland
Clean interface and fast response time. Well-designed, but selective in its choice of indexed sites.
DINO
Combines a Yahoo-like thematic index and a search engine, both devoted to German-language web pages. Sponsored by Siemens-Nixdorf.
Lycos Deutschland
More comprehensive in its approach to indexing than Yahoo, but busier interface and sluggish response time are obstacles.
Fireball
A new search engine specifically for searching in Germany and in German.
MetaGer
"Meta-Suchmaschine über deutschsprachige Suchmaschinen". Searches a group of German search engines, usually yielding large search results.
Kolibri
An extensive, virtually comprehensive Suchmaschine for German web pages.

German Studies Web
"The German Studies Web is designed to provide access to scholarly resources in German Studies, including all German-speaking countries. The resources organized here have undergone a selection and evaluation process. If needed, annotations have been provided augmenting the research value of these resources to scholars." German Studies Trails on the Internet
Edited by Andreas Lixl-Purcell, Professor of German at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (USA). "Listed here are some of the most useful interdisciplinary German resources on the World Wide Web. These "Literatur" and "Landeskunde" Trails are designed for everyone who likes to explore the Internet as a virtual language laboratory or engage in research projects. You can connect to German Internet exercises for all levels of proficiency, find multimedia teaching tools on the net, and visit our Multimedia Language Center for laboratory links and resources."
Internet Resources for Germanists
An excellent guide to information of interest to "academic" German Studies, currently edited by Alan Ng of the Department of German Studies, Univ. of Wisconsin. Includes coverage of German Studies, German Literature, German Linguistics and Philology, and "Netherlandic" Studies. Good source for information on people, academic departments, institutions and conferences, as well as research materials and guides.
Historische Informationsressourcen im Internet
provides links to many historical resources, including digital libraries, electronic text collections, databases, local projects discussion groups, organizations and "Internet tools" for historians.
