Below are the guidelines for the one-time cash awards.
These one-time awards can be requested at any time throughout the year--the
idea is to recognize the employee(s) as soon as possible after the completion
of an extraordinary effort.
Eligibility:
Eligibility for the Exceptional Service, Exceptional Achievement, and
Budget Savings awards are academic/regular non-bargaining unit individual
employees and teams who meet the criteria for the award.
Exceptional Service:
To acknowledge extraordinary circumstances calling for contributions that
far exceed expectations (i.e., employee who worked on an event of unprecedented
magnitude, which required extraordinary time).
Exceptional Achievement:
To acknowledge major technical or administrative innovations that result
in increased productivity and/or quality of operations; unusual effort
to respond to unanticipated problems.
Budget Savings:
To acknowledge extraordinary contributions to work restructuring, productivity
improvement or innovation that results in tangible budget savings (beyond
the employee's regular job assignments).
Special Projects:
To acknowledge full-time exempt regular and academic staff who are requested
by University management to work on projects which are significantly and
demonstrably different in nature from their regularly assigned duties and
typically in addition to those duties or, if similar in nature to regularly
assigned duties, are substantively beyond the expectation of those duties
normally performed within a full-time framework.
Procedure for requesting one-time cash awards:
Your request should consist of a paragraph that speaks to the role of
the recipient, extent of extra effort, and impact of the achievement. Please
send the request to your Director and copy Catalina Rodriguez (cjara@stanford.edu).
The dollar amount of the awards are from $100 to $5000. You can of course
suggest an amount, but please don't be surprised if it gets changed.
