ø The CBD objectives are "the conservation of biological diversity,
the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of
the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources." The
site includes the Clearinghouse on Biodiversity, a roster of experts located
in different countries, research reports, news, meetings, and events.
Ecology and Biodiversity Virtual
Library - Reviews Internet information sources pertaining to
ecology and biodiversity based on educational value. Subjects include many
varieties of endangered species, habitats, international treaties, and U.S.
legislation.

Inter-American Biodiversity
Information Network (IABIN) - IABIN
grew out of the initial efforts of Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and the United
States to develop national biological information infrastructures and
establish agreements to exchange biodiversity information across national
borders. Its objective is to promote compatible means of collection,
communication, and exchange of biodiversity information relevant to
decision-making and education.
Inter-American Geospatial
Data Network - Advances in remote sensing make possible
powerful joint analyses of biophysical and socioeconomic data. IGDN brings
holders of geospatial data online to provide the ability to automatically
search for and retrieve a greater variety of data sets in digital form over
the World Wide Web.
OECD on
biodiversity - The OECD uses economic incentives to encourage
countries to preserve biodiversity. See case studies.
Species 2000
- Its objective is to enumerate all known species of plants, animals,
fungi and microbes on Earth as the baseline dataset for studies of global
biodiversity.
