Biosphere
International
Geosphere-Biosphere Programme: The Miombo Network was formed to
create a regional network for global change research on the dominant biome of
Southern Africa: the Miombo Woodlands. It includes all those Southern and
Central African ecosystems which occur under a hot, subhumid, seasonally-wet
climate on soils derived from acid crystalline geologies.
MABNetAmericas
- The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program of UNESCO has designated over
100 biosphere reserves in the Western Hemisphere in recognition of their
excellence in combining programs of conservation, sustainable development, and
scientific research. The goals of MABNetAmericas are to: increase access to
data obtained at protected sites and promote use of common data standards
for reporting species inventories and biological monitoring.
UNESCO Man and the Biosphere
Programme (MAB) . MAB designates biosphere reserves, areas of
terrestrial and coastal ecosystems, for conservation, to foster economic and
human development which is socio-culturally and ecologically sustainable, and
to provide support for research, monitoring, education and information
exchange.
