Environmental law

International

Environmental Law Alliance, E-Law ┐ A network of public interest lawyers and environmental activists in over 50 countries who work together for legal preservation of the environment.

GlobelawThis Greenpeace site assists practitioners in public and private international law, and includes material helpful to international litigators as well as academics, lawyers in public service, the NGO community and students interested in public and private international law and environmental law. It provides information, documents, links, support and acts as an exchange center for both international lawyers and environmental lawyers.

Government on the Web ┐ Links to national governmental agencies that deal with the environment, agriculture or natural resources. Includes countries in Africa, the Americas, Central and Pacific Asia, and Eastern and Western Europe.

International Nature Conservation Policy and Legislation - Global and European conventions, directives, cases, etc. by the European Council for Nature Conservation (ECNC).

SeaWeb ┐ an ocean law and policy network with a Hawaii and Pacific flavor. Includes laws, ocean policy issues and an extensive list of links to ocean policy, law, science and education sites.

World Environmental Law, Hieros Gamos  - Contains international agreements, country level information and links NGOs.

Treaties and conventions

Council of Europe, Environment ┐ Describes COE conventions, strategy for biodiversity, protected areas, regional planning and the Naturopa awareness raising organization.

Environmental Treaties and Resource Indicators - "The ENTRI system is organized around a set of nine specific 'issue areas' that are widely recognized by scholars and policymakers as being critical to understanding the human dimensions of global change."

North American Commission for Environmental Cooperationis an international organization created by Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC). The CEC was established to address regional environmental concerns, help prevent potential trade and environmental conflicts, and to promote the effective enforcement of environmental law. The Agreement complements the environmental provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Text is in English, French and Spanish.

UN Treaties ┐ a database of the text of all UN treaties including those on the endangered species, marine resources and pollution.

Americas

Environmental Defense - Environmental Defense is dedicated to protecting the environmental rights of all people, including future generations. Among these rights are clean air, clean water, healthy, nourishing food, and a flourishing ecosystem.

Environmental Law Institute, USA - Environmental Law Institute has played a pivotal role in shaping the fields of environmental law, policy, and management, domestically and abroad. It is an internationally recognized, independent research and education center

Inter-American Forum on Environmental Law (FIDA) (OAS)- FIDA was established at the 1996 Summit of the Americas for Sustainable Development in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, as a hemispheric network of officials and experts in environmental law, enforcement, and compliance, working in coordination with the OAS to exchange knowledge and experiences in environmental law.

Parlamento AmazĐnico ┐ Members are states with territory in the Amazon basin. Areas of concern are preserving biodiversity, ecology and rights of indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
