Hazardous waste

Nuclear waste

Globelaw, Transport of Nuclear Waste ┐ Contains treaties, conventions, declarations, texts of protests, publications and Greenpeace═s news related to this topic.

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Nuclear Armaments and Nuclear Waste - For more than 25 years, NRDC has played a major role in the formation of U.S. nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, energy, and environmental policies

OECD, Nuclear Energy Agency ┐ radioactive waste management strategies for spent fuel, long-lived waste, and waste from the decommissioning of nuclear facilities

South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty - Full text of this treaty.

Waigani Convention (Waigani, Papua New Guinea) - a convention to ban the importation into South Pacific Forum Secretariat island countries of hazardous and radioactive wastes and to control the transboundary movement and management of hazardous wastes with the South Pacific region.

Waste minimization

OECD waste minimization policy - Despite nearly 30 years of environmental and waste policy efforts in OECD countries, the OECD-wide increase in waste generation is in direct proportion to economic growth. A 40% increase in OECD GDP since 1980 has been accompanied by a 40% increase in municipal waste during the same period. Consumer spending also follows these trends. The delinking of effluence from affluence generally remains elusive.

European Union waste prevention and minimization policy ┐ "A vital element of the Community Strategy is achieving waste minimisation in terms of both volumes and environmental hazards/damages. The Programme sets the EC waste minimisation target for the year 2000..."
