The collections of publications from International Governmental
Organizations in the Stanford University Libraries reflect the
diverse
and interdisciplinary research needs of the Stanford community.
The Stanford Libraries are depositories for publications of the
United Nations, the International Maritime Organization and the
International Civil Aviation Organization and the World Trade Organization.
The Library maintains blanket subscriptions which bring in the
most
important series from the World Bank, Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development, and the International Monetary Fund.
In addition, the Libraries actively acquire publications from all
the major global IGO's as well as regional IGO's such as the Organization
of American States, the Asian Development Bank, and the Andean
Pact.
Publications are housed in various Stanford University Libraries
depending upon their subject content. For example, OECD publications
related to education will be found in the Cubberly Education Library.
IGO publications from the IMF or the UN which report research results
in other social science disciplines such as economics and political
science will be found in the Green Library stacks. The coordinate
Libraries maintain collections that reflect local needs: the Crown
Law Library acquires International Court of Justice and World Intellectual
Property Organization documents; the Jackson Library acquires material
from the World Bank and OECD; and the Lane Medical Library acquires
World Health Organization publications. However, the largest collection
of IGO materials at Stanford University; concentrating on statistical
series and administrative records from the major IGO's will be
found
in the Jonsson Library of Government
Documents.
