About the Mathematical Sciences Collection
The Mathematical and Computer Sciences Library supports the research
and teaching missions of the Departments of Mathematics, Statistics,
Operations Research, and Computer Science. Monographs, journals,
and technical reports are acquired in support of these four departments
and their associated laboratories. The user community consists of
146 teaching and research faculty, 635 graduate students, 113 undergraduates,
and associated staff.
The collection occupies 8,000 linear feet or about 63,000 volumes.
Half of the collection consists of journals, and half are books.
Of the commercially published volumes, the collection is approximately
2/3 mathematics/statistics and 1/3 computer science.
The Computer Science Technical reports collection (about 55,000)
is one of the best in the world with the earliest reports dating
back to 1954. Many reports have been transferred to microform.
