Media Privileges

Who can use media materials?
Media materials are checked out only to individuals with current,
valid, and barcoded Stanford ID's.
- Faculty and academic staff (including librarians) may check
media out for 3 days*. Stanford students and other staff may check
out DVDs for one day.
- Instructors (who lack academic staff status), teaching assistants,
and Residential Education staff may check media out for 3 days*
after obtaining an extended media borrowing card from the Privileges
Desk on the 1st floor of Green (Mon.-Fri. between 8am and 5 pm.)
Applications are available at the Privileges Desk and online.

- Other SU staff and SU students must use media in Green Library.
Students in the Continuing Studies Program (CSP) should obtain
their borrowing privileges from the Privileges Desk (Mon.-Fri.,
8am-5pm).
- Other patrons with a current, valid, barcoded Stanford ID may
use media only in Green Library.
- University of California students who are part of the Reciprocal
Service Program may use media in Green Library after obtaining
their borrowing privileges from the Privileges Desk (Mon.-Fri.,
8am-5pm).
- Media is not lent as part of the Research Library Cooperative
Program (RLCP).
- Some videos are lent via Interlibrary Borrowing to UC campuses
and RLS ShaRes members only, but reserved, unique, rare, or expensive
films, and feature films are not lent.
*In cases of special need, it is possible to extend the 3-day loan
period slightly.
Individuals with yellow entrance permits or yellow summer camp/conference
cards cannot use them to use media materials.
If you have an ID problem/question, go to the Privileges Desk on
the 1st floor of Green (Mon.-Fri., 8am-5pm) to resolve it.
