Miller Collections

Broad coverage of marine biology is offered, with special emphases on cell and developmental biology, marine botany, marine ecology, marine zoology, neurobiology, and physiology of marine organisms. The library contains approximately 33,000 volumes, 320 currently received journal titles, and 20,000 reprints.

Finding Library Materials

Socrates, the online library catalog of Stanford, contains bibliographic records for all items acquired by the Miller Library. To find journal articles, consult periodical indexes such as Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts, BIOSIS, MEDLINE, Science Citation Index, and Zoological Record. To find student papers done at Hopkins Marine Station, consult Abstracts of HMS Student Papers.

Shelving Arrangement

Books and reference materials are shelved by call number whereas journals are shelved alphabetically by title. Theses are shelved alphabetically by author's name.
