Abstract: Determination of cadmium, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc were made by atomic absorption spectrophotometry on 4 species of marine algae and 1 species of marine angiosperm. Four regions along the Monterey Bay area were chosen. A correlation between fresh algal smaples and wrack algal samples was attempted and proved that there exists no significant difference. High cadmium values were shown in Phyllospadix although no known use of this element is known.
