Abstract: Field studies have revealed that female Porcellio scaber seek warmer temperatures than male, this was also confirmed by laboratory experiments. Lab experiments indicated no difference in temperature response between brooding and non-brooding females. It has been show that increassing the temperature of the microhabitat from 15 to 20 degrees C doubles the rate of embryonic development, perhaps explaining the behavior of the females.
