Single song (i.e. not part of larger work)

Try an Author & Keyword, or Keyword search, and limit Format to Scores. This will find all publications of the song published by itself, or any collection in which it is contained, that has its contents listed in the citation.

Author: schubert
Keyword: erlkonig (NB: ignore diacritical marks)

Part of a larger work

If you know that the song or aria is from a larger work, it is best to start by searching for the opera, oratorio, musical, song cycle, etc. Try an Author & Keyword search and limit Format to Scores. This will yield editions of the complete work (i.e. the opera, song cycle, etc.), as well as selections from those works that may not be the specific piece you are seeking. Look at the Long display to get more information.

Author: schumann
Keyword: frauenliebe (NB: use unique words; complete title is not necessary)
Format: scores

If all of these are unsuccessful, try a Keyword search using the title of the song you are looking for. This will find all editions of the song published by itself, or any collection in which it is contained, that has its contents listed in the citation.

Keyword: ring meinem finger
Format: scores

Songs are sometimes published in versions for high (soprano, tenor), medium (mezzo-soprano, baritone), and low (alto, bass) voice. You can add one of these terms to your keyword search.

Keyword: ring meinem finger high
Format: scores
