Access and Circulation
The Stanford Auxiliary Library [SAL1&2], located on Pampas Lane across from
the University's Credit Union, is open to members of the Stanford community.
Courtesy readers are accommodated, following the same visitor registration procedure
used in Green Library, now available at the SAL1&2 Visitor Registration Kiosk.

Materials shelved at Stanford Auxiliary Library [SAL1&2] may be browsed and borrowed
directly from SAL1&2.
Paging
A paging service is available to those who want
SAL1&2 material delivered to another campus library. Paging requests
must be placed using the "request an item" link in the Socrates
web catalog. Patrons are notified of paging
results. Materials will be held for pick-up at the desired library for
seven days, then returned to SAL1&2.
When paging material, you must specify the pick-up library:
Green Library
Deliveries are made daily Mon-Fri, and are typically available by 4:30 p.m.
Other SULAIR Libraries
SAL 1&2 delivers to other SULAIR libraries, including Art, Falconer Biology, Swain Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Branner Earth Sciences, Cubberley Education, Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, Music, and Physics.
Deliveries are made Mon-Fri, typically 1-2 business days after the request. (See chart below.)
Paging Timetable
Paging is done Monday-Friday. Availability depends on the time of day ordered, and which pick-up library is selected. Please consult this chart for an estimated delivery time.
Note: SAL 1&2 does not page items on university holidays.

Circulation policies
Circulation of materials is available only to users with
a valid Stanford borrower's card. For students, faculty, staff,
and individuals eligible for the University's Courtesy ID, their
current Stanford ID card is their borrower's card. Other categories
of users should apply for appropriate library identification at
the Privileges Desk in Green Library (650)-723-1492. For more information,

Circulation period
Books, Theses : Varies by user status
Journals : 7 Days
All materials are subject to RECALL if requested by another
user or required for course reserves.
Overdues, Bills & Notices
Overdue fines vary by loan period. Bills for replacements
charges include the replacement cost of the item, a $25.00 processing
charge, and a non-refundable $5.00 billing fee. Replacement charges
vary by library and material type. Faculty are not charged overdue fines
but are billed for replacement charges and processing fees. Overdue
notices are a courtesy. Failure to receive such notice will not be considered
grounds for reduction or cancellation of fines.
Loan periods of 28 days or longer: no overdue fines
are charged
- 1 day after due date: courtesy overdue reminder is sent.
- 15 days after due date: bill for replacement charges is
sent and user is blocked.
Loan periods of 1-14 days: overdue fines are charged
- 1 day after due date: courtesy overdue reminder is sent
and fines begin accruing at the rate of $1.50/day to a maximum of
$10.50.
- 8 days after due date: bill for replacement charges is
sent and user is blocked.
Recalled materials: overdue fines are charged
- 1 day after recall due date: fines begin accruing at $3.00/day
to a maximum of $21.00.
- 8 days after recall due date: bill for replacement charges
is sent and user is blocked.
