Final List of Serials Canceled in FY 2003
The serial titles listed on these pages were canceled by the Science and
Engineering Libraries at Stanford University effective January 1, 2004. The
goal of the cancellation project was to reduce overall expenditures by 10%.
The magnitude of the cancellation project was determined by three primary
factors:
- The library collection budget was reduced 4–5% in fiscal year
2003–04.
- Journal prices continue to increase. Large commercial publishers
predicted increases for calendar 2004 at approximately 6%.
- The growth in library expenditures for electronic resources
continues to accelerate. Electronic resources include electronic
journals, monographs, and reference databases.
The combined list of serials canceled by the SERG libraries contains 490
titles with a combined 2003 subscription price of $504,000.
