Due to the rare and unique nature of the materials stored in Special Collections, researchers are not allowed to browse the Department's stacks. However, patrons are welcome to request that materials be brought to the Department's Reading Room for their use in rm. 200 on the second floor of the Bing Wing of Green Library. Paging slips for requested items must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. for a return time of 11:15 a.m. the following morning.

To request an item, patrons must complete a paging slip in the Department's reading room or send an email request to speccollref@stanford.edu.

To be fulfilled, paging requests for book materials must include: (1) a complete and accurate call number, (2) the author's name, (3) the title of the work, (4) the patron's name and contact information, and (5) the date by which the material is needed.

Paging requests for manuscript and archival materials must include (1) the call number of the collection, (2) the collection name, (3) the series name and number (if appropriate), (4) the box number for the box containing the item(s) in question, (5) the patron's name and contact information, and (6) the date by which the material is needed.
