Electronic Media
Electronic
media refers to any information bearing device that requires electronic
equipment, whether digital or analog, to retrieve the contents of
the item in question. Special Collections and University Archives
is home to many collections of unique and historically valuable
electronic media. The vast majority of the electronic media holdings
are in obsolete, difficult-to-access formats. In addition, due to
the age and rarity of most of these materials, Special Collections
cannot allow patrons to use original electronic media. Instead,
patrons must use copies that are made from the original items. When
use copies do not already exist, copies must be made on demand.
This process can take up to four weeks from initial
request to delivery of the use copy to the Special Collections Reading
Room.
