Collaborations

From 1999-2003, Stanford University Libraries collaborated closely with the Stanford Humanities Laboratory (click to access), developing innovative ways to make the vast collection available to students, researchers, and the general public.

In the winter quarter of 2001-2002, SHL and Stanford University Libraries sponsored a research seminar on Fuller, followed by a second seminar in Fall 2003. SHL and Stanford Libraries also came together to bring a lecture series entitled “Conversations on R. Buckminster Fuller” to Stanford, consisting of discussions with a number of Fuller’s close personal and professional associates. These conversations are available as streaming video, on the Stanford Humanities Lab pages. Also available are Virtual Reality models of some the structures that Fuller and his students built, as well as links to other Fuller resources.

More recently, Stanford University Libraries was awarded a Save America's Treasures grant which supported the creation of an online multimedia archive of audio and video content from the Fuller Archive. The successful completion of this project required collaboration both internally, between Special Collections and the Digital Library Systems and Services group, and collaboration with the project sponsors as well as outside vendors and specialists.
