American Literary Studies
The Department of Special Collections has a particularly rich set
of holdings in American Literature of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Prominent collections include the papers of Bernard DeVoto (M0001
and M0242), Albert Guerard, the Hawthorne Family (M0981), Ernest
Hemingway (M0440), William Saroyan (M0870), John Steinbeck (M0263,
M0354, M1063), and Yvor Winters and Janet Lewis (M0352).
The collections also contain numerous collection relating to American
poets from the mid-to-late 20th century, including Dorothy and Howard
Baker (M0903), Allen Ginsberg (M0733), Gregory Corso (M0721, M0877),
Robert Creeley (M0662), Fanny Howe (M0648), Denise Levertov (M0601),
Janet Lewis (M0543), Robert Pinsky (M0697), Stephen Rodefer (M0693),
and Clayton Stafford (M0434).
Annette Keogh is the cognizant curator responsible for selecting
