American West

The Stanford University Libraries have collected numerous sets of records relating to the history of the American West since the beginnings of the Libraries.

The collections include the Alaska Commercial Company Records, the Otey Bradford Papers, several Timothy Hopkins Transportation Collection, which document the development of railroads, highways, and other transportation systems in California and the West, the Edward Otho Cresap Ord Letters, the Pacific Improvement Company Records, the William R. Shafter Papers, the Western Highways Historical Collection, and the Western United States business records.
