Germanic Studies
The German Studies collections in the Department of Special Collections
are quite strong in the area of 19th and 20th Century German culture,
especially in the area of the avant-garde and the counter-culture
movements in Germany after World War II.
Notable collections from the German Studies collections in the
Manuscript Division include the Bostelmann Family Papers, 1848-1938
(M0075), the Cassirer collection, 1906-1933 (M0287), DEFA. East
German movie posters, 1968-1974 (M0711), Faber du Faur (Kurt von)
Papers, 1923-1966 (M0562), Film Programs from East Germany, 1953-1990
(M0771), the Germany. Extraparliamentary movement, 1967-1984 (M0613),
the Kiesel (Conrad) Correspondence, 1881-1965, n.d. (M0407), the
Komitee fur Grundrechte und Demokratie (M0916), the Carl von Marr
Papers, 1874-1949 (M0474), Miscellaneous documents, 1326-1867 (M0535),
and the Sozialistisches Buro Records, 1969-1987 (M0913) as well
as the Sozialistisches Buro Publications, 1969-1983 (M0914).
Curator Henry Lowood is the curator responsible for selecting manuscript
