Special Collections has many examples of finely printed books, exquisite bindings, great works in the history of printing and book illustration, modern artists' books, and reference works that support the collecting and interpretation of these materials. The Gunst Collection is the primary designation for this material. The Aldines are part of Gunst, but hold a special place in printing history. The Barchas Collection, while identified as a collection of history of science, has some incunabula and other examples of early printing.
