The Charles D. Field Collection of Ernest Hemingway
Special Collections holds many copies of the works of Ernest Hemingway.
Of special interest are the books that came with the gift by Charles
D. Field in 1985 and 1986. These include "numerous first editions,
many inscribed, as well as translations, articles, and galley proofs
covering vitrually all of Hemingway's printed output" (from
the Hemingway entry on the SULAIR American
Literary Studies site).
Generally, all Hemingway books in the department can be found in
SearchWorks by searching Hemingway
as Author and limiting library to Special Collection. Books in the
Field Hemingway collections can be found using "Field/Hemingway
Collection" in a keyword search.
Additionally, many of the Field Hemingway books are on display
in the Special Collections reading room in the Bing Wing of Green
Library on the Stanford Campus.
