Center Z7164.S42D96 1987) lists and describes a wealth of resources
from "the full spectrum of points of view." Includes a subject and personal
name index.
Encyclopedias and dictionaries can provide useful descriptions,
overviews, and lists of recommended reading on a topic.
Completely Queer: The Gay and Lesbian Encyclopedia (Green
Library Information Center & HASRC HQ75.H63 1998) focuses
on "the multifaceted international subculture self-identified lesbians
and gay men have cultivated and refined in the second half of the 20th
century."
Encyclopedia of Homosexuality (Green Library Information

including conflicting theoretical perspectives where these exist.

Human Sexuality: An Encyclopedia (Green Library Information
Center HQ9.H846 1994) scholarly articles of varying lengths cover a
wide range of topics connected to human sexuality. Includes bibliographies.
Sexuality and the Law: An Encyclopedia of Major Legal Cases
(Green Library Information Center KF9325.A7L46 1993) "describes more
than one hundred significant court decisions concerning sexuality."
Many deal with gay/lesbian/bisexual issues.
Homosexuality and Religion: An Encyclopedia (Green Library Information Center BL65 .H64 H63 2007)
"Gay and Lesbian Literature" in vol. 76, pp. 416-439 of Contemporary
Literary Criticism (Green Library Stacks PN771.C58) gives
an overview of the subject as well as a collection of writing on the
subject by a wide variety of authors.
The Gay and Lesbian Literary Heritage: A Reader's Companion to
the Writers and Their Works, from Antiquity to the Present (Green
Library HASRC PN56 .H57 G365 2002) "provides overviews of the
gay and lesbian presence in a variety of literatures and historical
periods, in-depth essays on major gay and lesbian writers in world literature...."
Gay and Lesbian Literature, vol. 1 & 2 (Green Library
Information Center PN56.H57.G36 1994) provides biographical information,
lists of their works, lists of critical sources, and a signed critical
essay on each author.

on over fifty representative contemporary gay American novelists." The
introduction provides an overview, while an appendix lists small presses

Latin American Writers on Gay and Lesbian Themes: A Bio-Critical
Sourcebook (Green Library Information Center & HASRC
PQ7081.3.F62 1994) entries describe the lives and works of authors,
with lists of works and criticism. The introduction provides an overview.

run of Ladder, a monthly periodical published in San Francisco

An Index to The Advocate, The National Gay Newsmagazine, 1967-
1982 (Green Library Information Center HQ75.A38 suppl.) provides
"access to all feature articles, news items, personal interviews, columns,
