Journals
Journals are located in the compact shelving at the back of the
library on the right hand side of the main hall. They are shelved alphabetically by title —
please note that titles beginning with “Journal” will be shelved under “J”.
The compact shelving ranges can be moved to give access to the desired aisle. Simply pull out
the black knobs on the ranges you wish to move and turn the handle in the direction you wish to
move it. Push the knobs back in to lock the ranges in place. Please check the open aisles for
people before moving the shelving!

To determine if Stanford University owns a journal, simply search
SearchWorks
by putting in the title (no abbreviations) and clicking on “Periodical Title”. If you
click on the long record it will tell you what years Stanford owns, which
library
has it and the most recently received issue. Please note that the brief display shows only the first
year that a title was published, it does not represent Stanford’s complete holdings for the title.
The Socrates record for a journal also contains a link for journals that are available electronically. An
e-journals page
is also available that allows you to browse or search for e-journals held at Stanford.
Additionally, Swain Library maintains its own
Journal List,
with print and online holdings information, and links to online journals.
